Good news for Octavia Butler fans: The Hollywood Reporter says that FX has formally ordered its adaptation of the late author's acclaimed novel Kindred to a full series, after a pilot order last year.

Word on the efforts broke just under a year ago: FX ordered a pilot episode in March written by playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, and later tapped Janicza Bravo (Zola) to direct and newcomer Mallori Johnson to star as Dana. In September, it rounded out the cast with a handful of additional actors: Antoinette Crowe-Legacy (WeCrashed), David Alexander Kaplan (Embattled, Creepshow), Ryan Kwanten (True Blood), Gayle Rankin (Perry Mason, Glow), Austin Smith (Russian Doll), and Micah Stock (The Right Stuff, Amazing Stories).
