The revolution starts now
The trailer for the second season of Andor is finally here

The next season of Andor is 56 days away, and we finally have a first look at what it'll bring: revolution. Lucasfilm has debuted a trailer for Season 2 of the series, and there's a lot packed into it: a lot of familiar faces and plenty of action as the series races towards towards the events of Rogue One, when we were first introduced to Cassian Andor.
Give it a watch here:
Andor debuted back in 2022: it's a prequel to the first standalone Star Wars film, Rogue One, following its titular character as he goes from small-time thief to becoming radicalized into the growing rebellion against the Galactic Empire. That first season was fantastic: an engrossing story that really hammered home the brutality of the Empire on its citizens. It was a serious take on the story, and it's become one of my favorite entries in the entire franchise.

I've been waiting for a good first look at the upcoming season for a while now. Star Wars Celebration showed off a trailer last year, but it never made its way officially to the internet.
This season will be the last of Andor. Where the first took place about five years prior to the Battle of Yavin, this next season is going to fill in the gap: every three episodes (Lucasfilm refers to them as "Chapters") will take place about a year apart, jumping forward until the minutes before we're introduced to Andor in Rogue One. And from the looks of this trailer, we're going to see quite a bit: plenty of action as Andor takes on a bunch of Stormtroopers and steals a TIE fighter. There's even a team of troopers in some new armor that I'm looking forward to seeing more of.
We've got plenty of familiar characters popping back up, too: Revolutionary Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker) and his men crop up as they (or someone) escapes from their base, Imperial Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) is at work on his Death Star project, and K-2S0 (Alan Tudyk) pops in for a moment, all getting in place for where they'll be in Rogue One. I'm still holding out hope that we'll see Antoc Merrick (played by Ben Daniels) as Blue Leader.
On a marketing side, this trailer is a pretty far cry from the first teaser that debuted at Star Wars Celebration in 2022: a trailer that really ratcheted up the tension. It's always a little jarring when you hear a rock song in a science fiction story, Steve Earle's "The Revolution Starts Now" is a pretty apt choice, given that Andor is teeing us up for the rise of the Rebel Alliance, complete with a killer manifesto.
April 22nd can't come soon enough.
